Why Do Onions Make You Cry?

Onions, I don't know about you but when Im cooking I always dread cutting onions. They smell, they make you smell and BURN YOUR EYES. Today I will get to the bottom of why onions make us cry.

Ok here's what I found:

Onions absorb sulphur form the earths soil which they then use too create sulphoxides ( which is a type of acid). Then when cut they react with the air to create Syn- Propanethial- S- oxides ( trust me I don't even know what that is) when this interacts with your eye you cry!

There we have it a very scientifically answer to why onions makes us cry.
